Destrehan shoot-out leaves two wounded

Police Investigating relationship between parties

On Sept. 2 at 2:50 a.m., St. Charles Parish police officers were notified of a shooting, and in response were dispatched to the Shell Station located on Airline Drive in Norco to meet up with the victims. Deandre Scott, 20, and Calvin Bourgeois, 19, both residents of LaPlace, suffered several gunshot wounds as a result of a shoot-out that began at the intersection of Ormond Boulevard and Airline Drive in Destrehan.
According to the sheriff’s office, Tamonica Lee, also of LaPlace, reported the incident and was a passenger in the vehicle when the two males were shot.

Lee stated that she and the other two victims stopped for the traffic light at the Destrehan intersection when an unknown black male began to fire shots at the vehicle.

With one victim shot in the chest and the other enduring several shots in his arms and legs, all three fled the scene and stopped to call police at the Norco service station.

During the immediate investigation, officers determined that one of the victims fired back at the unknown gunman, and that Lee, 17, disposed of the weapon in a nearby garbage can.

Both Scott and Bourgeois were rushed to Elmwood Medical Center for treatment.

Lee was initially arrested and charged with obstruction of justice, but was released Sept. 4 on a $35,000 personal surety bond.

The sheriff’s office states that this incident is still under investigation, and the identity of the gunman is still unknown.
