Covington man charged with pointing gun at driver on I-310

A Covington man who believed he was cut off in traffic allegedly brandished a handgun on I-310 and pointed it at another driver before being arrested a short time later on Highway 90, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Darrel Richoux, 44, was arrested on April 26 and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange said the incident began when Richoux felt he was cut off on the interstate.

“After he thought that he was cut off, he pulled up alongside the other driver,” LaGrange said. “The other driver said that when he looked in Richoux’s direction, he was pointing a gun at him.”

The man immediately called the Sheriff’s Office and Richoux was apprehended a short time later.
