Cancer survivors ready to celebrate

Relay for Life scheduled for West Bank Bridge Park

For cancer survivors, every day is a celebration of life. On Saturday, March 18, St. Charles Parish will join them in that celebration for the Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life at the West Bank Bridge Park. A survivors celebration will kick off the event beginning at 6:00pm. All cancer survivors will receive a t-shirt and refreshments and will be acknowledged for their strength and courageous battle in the fight against cancer. It is sponsored by Chemtura.

Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society’s national signature event, is a team event that brings the community together to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, remember those who lost their fight to the disease and celebrate the victories of all survivors.

Cancer survivors are invited to share their courage with the community and kick off the overnight event by leading the first lap of the Relay for Life. “If you need proof that we are making great strides in the fight against cancer, all you have to do is look at the many survivors walking on that track. It is an amazing and inspirational sight,” said Theresa Theriot, Relay for Life chair.

To register for the survivors celebration or for more information about Relay for Life, call Theresa Theriot at 783-5090 or the American Cancer Society at 1-800-acs-2345 or visit www.cancer.org.
