Cajun-Creole restaurant will open in Luling in former Sailfish location

A Cajun-Creole hybrid restaurant will soon offer up hearty portions of red beans and rice, white beans and catfish and seafood platters in Luling.

Pierre’s Restaurant Bar and Grill plans to open during the first week of December in the former Sailfish Restaurant, located on Highway 90. Sailfish went out of business after a fire destroyed the kitchen in January.

Clifford Bailey, owner of Pierre’s, said his restaurant will bring a little flavor to St. Charles Parish.

“We are Cajun-Creole. For lunch we are going to have red beans and rice, okra, cabbage, mustard greens, white beans and catfish and chicken fried steak,” he said. “Of course we are also going to have seafood platters and shrimp Creole.”

He added that the building has completely recovered from January’s fire.

“Everything is completely fixed and we have renovated everything,” he said.

This is Bailey’s second restaurant to open in St. Charles Parish. He previously owned Pierre’s Supper Club, which was also located on Highway 90.

Bailey got into the restaurant business after his uncle, who owned Pierre’s Supper Club in Denver, Colo., wanted to branch out into Louisiana.

The Denver location has been hailed as having the best friend chicken in the area.

Bailey said anyone who comes into his restaurant can expect great service with a smile.

“I’m a people person. I love meeting people and I love to make sure they are accommodated,” Bailey said. “If you have good service with a smile, people want to come back. We are going to have a family environment where people feel like they are at their own home.”

Bailey is currently hiring servers and kitchen staff. Those interested in a position should call (504)415-1114.
