With school set to resume and fall on the horizon, Maison Décor has been a busy place. The Boutte store has been open since 2000 and is packed with an eclectic mix of home décor items, both within the walls of its shop and outside in its courtyard, where hundreds of fountains await those looking to upgrade their home setting.
Owner Shane Matherne offers delivery and installation services, and the delivery aspect of that has brought Maison Décor fountains all over the country.
“We’ve been very, very busy,” Matherne said. “There’s been a lot of local fountain installations and a lot of new construction going on right now. People are moving around, trying to get that in before school starts. We’ve been shipping them all over country. We’ve got one order in from Indiana, one we just sent to upstate New York, another to San Diego … we’re all over the place.”
Those fountains — there are more than 700 of them within the store’s total selection — come in a selection of 30 different colors, while a wide selection of statues, patio furniture and other popular items are available for those looking to add a little flavor to their residence.
Matherne noted the popular fall fashion clothing line by Simply Noelle is always a top seller, as are Volatile brand sandals and shoes.
“Purses, backpacks, blouses, skirts, dresses … we have a strong selection,” Matherne said.
Maison Décor’s customized wall plaques offer something for everyone, displaying fleur de lis, whimsical phrases and a whole lot of region and state pride. Those especially make for great housewarming gifts, Matherne said, and those kinds of presents have been in demand, as have been customized mailboxes for newly-built or purchased homes.
“We have a number of real estate agents that shop with us and come in here to buy housewarming gifts … just from talking to them, I know there’s been a whole lot of movement in the real estate market of late, and it’s keeping us busy,” he said.
Maison Décor offers the largest selection of flags in the area, Matherne noted. The store also has on its shelves the summer fragrances of Yankee Candles, with the first shipments of the company’s fall fragrances beginning to join them. The store is the only authorized Yankee Candle dealer in St. Charles Parish and the largest independent dealer of Yankee Candles.
Maison Décor has a social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, through which potential customers can send photos of their home and Matherne can send instant feedback and suggestions.
