Boutte Christian aims to build strong minds, hearts

Started in 1980 as a Mother’s Day Out Program, Boutte Christian Academy (BCA) has significantly grown in 36 years into a sought-after school that serves the families of St. Charles Parish.“Our child care is often filled to capacity,” said Administrator Kimberly Babineaux. “We plan to build a new preschool building for our 1- to 3-year olds near our present location.”

The school’s mission of “Building strong minds and hearts” has proven a successful path for the school’s quality and future.

“Boutte Christian Academy is blessed with strong parental support,” Babineaux said. “Many students start at BCA in our preschool or PK program and stay with us for many years into elementary and junior high. We are able to build strong relationships with our families and students.”

The school’s founding came with its sponsoring church, Life Church, “where many moms were entering the workforce in the early 80s,” she said.

The school grew into a Type III childcare center for ages 1 to 3 and a state-approved elementary and junior high school (pre-K to eighth grade).

Babineaux said they value the opportunity to guide the lives of young people, as well as partner with their parents to develop children with strong minds and hearts.

“All of our students enjoy Bible every day in their homeroom and chapel once a week,” she said. “We want to equip our students to be all that God has called them to be.”

The school got its start from parents who kept asking for ways to keep their children in this learning environment.

“Parents were so pleased with the care and education their children were receiving that they asked the childcare center to add PK, then kindergarten, then first grade,” she said. “That is literally how the school grew … by satisfied parents asking for us to expand. We still have parents asking us to add high school.”

With more than 300 students enrolled, Boutte Christian Academy continues to grow and is drawing students in the parish, as well as surrounding parishes.

Babineaux said the school’s strength is based on it offering a challenging academic program.

“The A Beka curriculum is introduced to our two-year-olds in preschool and provides the foundation for classroom learning through eighth grade,” she said. “Our graduates continue to be successful in their high school, college and career endeavors.”
