Arrest made in violent Des Allemands robbery

A 21-year-old Des Allemands man has been arrested in connection with the violent robbery of a Paradis man earlier this month.

Jonathan Simmons, of 190 JB Green Road in Des Allemands, has been charged with simple robbery, simple burglary and simple criminal damage under $500.

Authorities say that the victim was sitting in his vehicle in Des Allemands at 5:45 p.m. when he was robbed by four men. He told officers that the men punched and kicked him before taking his wallet, iPhone and car keys.

“The man was just sitting in his car in front of a residence when he was attacked,” Capt. Pat Yoes, a spokesman for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office said. “After he was robbed he was able to go to a nearby relative’s house where he notified the Sheriff’s Office.”

The victim was transported to St. Charles Parish Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. Yoes said that man knew his attackers and was able to identify all four men.
Police are still searching for three other men believed to be behind the robbery. They are:

Jonathan Simmons, and his 73-year-old grandmother, Ethel Mae Simmons, were arrested in July 2010 after authorities say nearly $10,000 worth of drugs were found in their home.

Police say they uncovered 698 grams of marijuana with a street value of $3,400, 99.2 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $4,410 and 5.5 grams of powder cocaine worth $550 on the street, inside the home of Jonathan and Ethel Mae Simmons.

Both reside at 190 JB Green Road.

The drugs were found in two bedrooms inside the home and also in a shed outside. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange said the drugs were hidden and that officers used trained dogs to uncover the stash.
