Arrest made in connection with Zydeco’s armed robbery

Authorities have arrested a 25-year-old Luling man in connection with the armed robbery of two women outside of Zydeco’s II in Boutte, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Charles Baloney, of 827 Milling Ave., approached the two Zydeco’s employees while they were sitting outside of the restaurant at 10:55 p.m. on May 29, according to Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

“They were first approached by another woman and asked how they were doing. Seconds later, a man armed with a gun approached the victims, ordered them to lie on the ground and demanded all of their money,” LaGrange said.

After taking a purse and wallet, the two suspects fled west on Highway 90.

The two victims were able to get to a nearby business and contact police, LaGrange said.

As of Wednesday, Baloney was being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center under a $500,000 bond.
