Arrest made in birthday party shooting

Three men fired shots after being told to leave

A Killona man who had been sought in connection with a shooting at a child’s birthday party last year has been arrested, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Bobby J. Williams, 26,  was arrested and booked with attempted second-degree murder and felony carrying illegal weapons.

Williams was arrested in St. John Parish and transferred to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

In May 2009, around 100 people were celebrating a birthday for a 1-year-old toddler when an altercation ensued. The instigator, authorities say, was then asked to leave.

The man did walk away, but returned shortly after – armed with weapons and two friends. The three opened fire on the party and injured three people, according to authorities.

One of those shot was the father of the birthday boy, who police say was an innocent bystander. Though he was hit in the chest, he survived.

The Sheriff’s Office put out an alert for Bobby Williams, his 23-year-old brother Aaron Williams and 21-year-old Davin Washington right after the crime took place.

Washington and Aaron Williams turned themselves in shortly after the shooting, while Bobby Williams remained on the run until his recent arrest.

While Aaron Williams,  and Washington were awaiting a March court date for the birthday shooting, they were involved in another shootout in January at a Hahnville apartment complex.

Authorities say that the two men had driven to a housing complex to find 20-year-old Earl Norman.

Both sides traded shots and Washington was hit in the head, leg and buttocks area.

All three men were charged in the shooting.
