Area firefighters respond to suspected arson

More than 20 area firefighters responded to a suspected arson fire in Killona on Sunday.

At about 1 a.m., the Killona Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene with fire coming out of both sides of the structure in the 200 block of School House Road, said Luling Fire Chief Craig Petit.

Hahnville and Luling volunteer fire departments soon arrived to assist at the scene.

Petit said the fire was brought under control at 1:38 a.m.An investigation revealed the residence was unoccupied and had no electricity.

“There had been two other fires at this location in the past, which arson was suspected,” according to the Luling VFD report.

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office has been requested to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
