Kermit Washington, 37, was arrested and charged May 19 with three counts of aggravated rape of one victim on the West Bank, according to the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office.
An anonymous tip led authorities to the arrest of the Boutte man accused of multiple rape of a single victim over the past five years, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes. The information also was provided to the Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services.
Yoes said the charges were filed following an investigation by both agencies.
Washington was being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility under $250,000 bond as of press time. He is scheduled to appear in court July 23, according to Sheriff’s reports.
