Due to coronavirus-related concerns, St. Charles Parish’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. march has been cancelled.
Organizer Lillian August said the annual march, which was scheduled for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, usually draws between 200-250 people.
“We had to cancel it because of covid,” August said. “Hopefully, hopefully next year we can have it.”
The march, which traditionally takes place on River Road from West Bank Bridge Park in Luling to the Eual J. Landry Alternative Program Center in Hahnville, is held each year to celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
August said no alternate memorials or ceremonies would be held this year in lieu of the march.
