Alabama man scams locals in home improvement scheme

Subject allegedly bilked over $11,000 from homeowners

Several homeowners in the River Parishes have been scammed by a man working for a home improvement company, B & B Enterprises.

Brian M. Pierce, 32, of Hazel Green, Alabama, was arrested and charged with theft over $500 on June 29 after he allegedly pocketed deposit checks from homeowners seeking home repairs after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana State Attorney General’s Office, between November of 2005 and January 2006, Pierce allegedly wrote repair contracts with different home owners located in St. Charles and surrounding parishes. Pierce would have home owners write checks for the work deposits directly to him, then cash the checks and keep the money for himself without notifying his employer. At the same time, the owner of the company continued to pay Peirce not knowing that he was keeping the deposits from the customers. The Alabama man allegedly stole more that $11,000 in deposits from five river parish home owners. The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office is in charge of this case and was unavailable for further comment at the time of press.
