3 justices of the peace elected Saturday

Three St. Charles Parish justices of the peace were elected on Saturday, with two of the races decided by around 200 votes.

In District 1, 73-year-old Henry Wolfe was elected with 55 percent of the votes, defeating opponent Rick Whitney by just 237 votes. Wolfe was successful despite the fact that two candidates who were eliminated from the race in November both supported Whitney.

In District 2, Earl “Pie” Tastet, who has served as justice of the peace for the last 25 years, defeated Randy Muller by capturing 57 percent of the votes (1,420 to 1,057).

Tika Riley is the new justice of the peace for District 5 after beating former Councilwoman April Black. Riley finished with 54 percent of the votes to defeat Black 1,246 to 1,048.

Congressman Bill Cassidy also knocked off incumbent Sen. Mary Landrieu for U.S. Senator, while Garret Graves beat former Gov. Edwin Edwards for the 6th Congressional District to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Incumbent Eric Skrmetta also held on to defeat Forest Bradley Wright for District 1 public service commissioner.
