3 arrested in connection with attempted murders

Three people have been arrested in connection with the shooting of two St. Rose men last week.

The incident occurred when Samuel Reed, 38, of 2301 Arbor View Circle Drive in D’Iberville, Miss. and James Yawn II, 29, of 1216 Fairway Drive in Kenner, drove to the 100 block of James Drive to confront two St. Rose men about something they had reportedly said, according to Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

When Reed and Yawn arrived, they got into an argument with the other two men and all four ended up fighting outside of the residence, LaGrange said.

“After the fight, Reed and Yawn got into their vehicle and Yawn brandished a handgun,” he said. “He threatened the victims with it, then Reed took it from him and fired three shots.”

One of the victims was hit in the right arm and hip, while the other was shot in the left leg, LaGrange said.

Samuel Reed’s wife, Jennifer, allegedly served as the getaway driver as the three left the scene.

Samuel Reed was charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder, while Yawn was charged with two counts of principle to first degree murder.

Jennifer Reed was charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to attempted first degree murder.

The two victims were treated and released from the hospital.
