Youth Empowerment Project takes over restaurants

YEP trainees in anticipation of starting their day at Fatty Shack.

Over two weeks, the Youth Empowerment Project had about 20 young people work alongside Chef Christian DiCarlo of Fatty Shack and Chef Scot Craig of New Orleans’ Katie’s, learning what it takes to own and maintain a restaurant.

Participants asked thoughtful questions of 26-year-old Chef Christian, and they admired his business savvy and confidence. They made fried chicken wings with four different kinds of barbecue sauces.
