Excited St. Charles Women’s Club members placed their names in a hat hoping to be chosen for a makeover at the organization’s March meeting. Two Vous Salon and Spa specialists attended to the meeting to speak about becoming beautiful the Vous Salon and Spa way.
Representing the salon, Stacy Melancon and Veronica Cruz performed their magic on lucky lady Val Townley-Smith.
First, Melancon started off by washing and styling Smith’s hair.
It was fashioned into a saucy haircut, shorter in the back and longer in the front which flattered her features.
Melancon called it a “millennium bob” and gave her more texture and straightened her curls.
Next, Cruz – who is an esthetician at Vous, chose coral colors to flatter Smith’s red hair and blue eyes.
She started out by outlining the middle to outer corner of her eye with a darker shade of brown shadow.
Cruz then applied a lighter shade on the middle of the lid and a highlighter was used just under the brow.
Cruz also used a moisturizer, a concealer and foundation to even out Smith’s skintone.
Then Smith’s eyebrows were defined by filling in with a little eyeshadow. Lastly she used an eyeliner.
Powder, blush, lip liner and lip plumper were all products used on Smith. Then some lipstick. Two to three coats of mascara were applied to add emphasis to her lashes.
In the end Smith was transformed into a femme fatale right there at the woman’s club meeting.
Melancon and Cruz both had recently returned from a trip to New York where they were taught the latest continuing education for their craft.
Melancon is a Redken specialist with a knack for styling and coloring.
And Cruz has worked with nearly all the different cosmetic lines and then became an esthetician, which allows her to intimately know how to treat different client’s skin needs.
Cruz says that micro dermabrasion is a mechanical facial designed to smooth out your skin and even the tones.
There are many tricks of the trade and Vous Salon and Spa keeps in house a great cosmetic line they enjoy using on their clients and it certainly brought out the true beauty in Val Townley-Smith.
