United Way collected 2,000 pounds of food, 700 toys

United Way of St. Charles collected over 2,000 pounds of food and 700 toys through its annual Toy and Food Drive.

The Toy and Food Drive was held at the United Way office in Luling from Nov. 8 to Dec. 10.

The United Way has partnered with Catholic Charities, Second Harvest and St. Charles Toy & Gift Fund to distribute these items to those in need this holiday season.

The toys that were collected helped over 40 families have a happy holiday.

“I am proud of the generosity shown by the people of St. Charles Parish. With this help UWSC and our partner agencies were able to distribute toys and food to needy people in our community,” said Kacy Kernan, UWSC Director of Community Impact.  “I would like to offer special thanks to every company, organization, school and individual that participated in our drive this year.

“Acts of kindness, such as these, truly help make a positive impact in our community.”
