St. Charles Catholic High School educating the mind and the heart

St. Charles Catholic (SCC) High School believes in educating the mind – and the heart. As the educational and spiritual leader of the River Parishes, SCC strives to develop young men and women as faith-filled students. SCC believes it is important to form the whole child – to teach not only academics, arts, and athletics, but the importance of faith and service as well. SCC’s goal is to prepare children for success in this world and beyond as future leaders and community servants.

“St. Charles Catholic High School is where faith is fostered, friendships are tempered, and a new family is woven,” says Dr. Andrew J. St. Martin MD, Class of 1984.

SCC’s success is evident in its higher-than-average ACT scores, graduation rates, and scholarship awards. SCC’s college-preparatory curriculum offers a rigorous, challenging foundation where students have a plethora of resources to guide them to achieve their full potential.

SCC’s curriculum is designed to challenge students with a customized, rigorous learning curriculum designed to fit their learning level. It offers five levels of courses to fit every student’s academic needs, including Honors, Dual Enrollment and AP.  Strong academic results open the door to success at the college level; and SCC prepares its students for college, careers and beyond.

SCC is blazing a technology trail with its Apple iPad and MacBook 1:1 Technology program, incorporate interactive Promethean boards in classrooms, and Digital Design, Multimedia and Code Design classes, giving students an advantage in college and beyond. Its campus houses 3D printers, state of the art Science and Math labs and engineering tools.

“St. Charles Catholic remains a big part of who I am even after all of these years,” said Attorney Danielle Mensman, Class of 1994. “I treasure the faith formation at SCC and the teachers at SCC instilled in me not only knowledge but an appreciation of learning.”

In addition, SCC’s students have earned more than 1500 college credit hours as part of its dual enrollment program in partnership with Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU). Students can earn up to 30 college credit hours via online classes in Math, Biology, English, Spanish and French.

SCC’s athletic offerings include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. The Gayle and Tom Benson and NFL Foundations and other donors recently donated money to build a new stadium for its winning football team.

SCC offers nearly 30 school clubs including cheerleading, academic games, art club, drumline, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Student Council and the Starsteppers Dance Team.

“St. Charles Catholic students are taught not only to be students who excel academically, but are taught what it means to be outstanding, contributing human beings.  Our students are guided spiritually through daily prayer and have performed over 15,000 hours of community service, said Dr. Courney Millet, Principal. “St. Charles Catholic is a safe, nurturing environment that fosters faith, family and future success.”

SCC will hold its 2019 Open House for prospective students on Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. at its campus at 100 Dominican Road in Laplace.

Assemblies will take place at 6pm and  p.m. with continuous tours until 7 p.m. SCC invites community members interested in learning more about its academics, arts, athletics, faith, and service program.
