SRE sends Mardi Gras cheer abroad

ST. ROSE – Students at St. Rose Elementary helped Louisiana soldiers have a taste of Mardi Gras. Students brought in Mardi Gras beads, stuffed animals, as well as Louisiana foods like Zapp’s Potato Chips and Zatarain’s, and more.

The students were able to make 25 boxes of goodies and assisted the organization, Soldiers’ Angels, a group whose goal was to send over 300 of these boxes to our Louisiana soldiers.

The 4-H Club along with Aleshia Reine and Janet Desselle helped to collect the items and pack the boxes.

The school also raised over $280 to cover the cost of shipping the boxes overseas.

St. Rose Elementary students are very proud of their school and hope our men and women from Louisiana serving our country enjoy this taste of Louisiana. Happy Mardi Gras!
