Sheriff’s Office aids school supply drive

The St. Charles Parish Sheriffs’ Department employees collected schools supplies to help replenish items needed for students in St. Charles Parish. R. J. Vial Elementary School was one of eight schools chosen to receive supplies.

The Sheriff’s Office often participates in “Dress Down Fridays” where all support personnel can wear an approved T-Shirt and blue jeans for the cost of a donation, typically $2 that goes to school supplies or canned goods, said spokesman Cpl. James Grimaldi.

Recently, donations went to school supplies to aid teachers in stocking up on essentials needed for day-to-day classroom activities.

Items collected for donations were pencils, loose leaf paper, crayons, stick glue, glue, markers, dry erase markers, binders and pocket folders.

They were delivered to R. J. Vial Elementary in addition to Harry Hurst Middle School, R. K. Smith Middle School, Albert Cammon Middle School, St. Rose Elementary School, Lakewood Elementary School, Norco Elementary School, and Mimosa Park Elementary School.
