Not only did many people bring their pets to have a photo taken with St. Nick, the “Santa with Pets” program also raised $1,887, said Jackie Boudreaux, president of the St. Charles Parish Humane Society. “What a wonderful community,” Boudreaux said of the recent holiday fundraiser. “It was incredible how many people with children and pets came out.”
All proceeds benefit shelter adoptions and medical care.
Hahnville High senior Kylie Roux was a volunteer as her senior project at the event. Roux raised $607 on raffle tickets for pet baskets and prizes.
Boudreaux also praised Parish President Larry Cochran for attending the event, as well animal control officers for decorating the lobby.
