River Region Drama Guild holds Summer Theater Workshop

The River Region Drama Guild held its Summer Theater Workshop on July 10-13 and July 17-20 at the River Region Performing Arts and Cultural Center in Good Hope.

The Workshop participants divided into groups and worked on individual parts and vignettes for a public performance on the final evening of the Workshop. The Workshop focused on helping the participants develop performance shills and demonstrated to them an understanding of what it is to be an actor.

The Workshop tried to encourage the participants to be responsive to their fellow actors by creating an environment through behavior and actions through the process of transforming ordinary objects into extraordinary ones. Participants learned not only a variety of performance skills but also the basic rules of storytelling, literary criticism, and character analysis.

Through out, the Workshop tried to develop imagination and intuition to help the participants grow more knowledgeable about themselves. The Workshop culminated with a public performance, which was attended by parents and relatives of the participants, that demonstrated the learned skills of the past two weeks.
