DESTREHAN, La. – The River Region Ballet will hold open auditions for the 2006-2007 season for dancers ages 7 and up on Sat., Sept. 9. This year, RRB will perform its annual production of “The Nutcracker” in December and a mixed bill spring concert titled “Celebrating Diverse Cultures” in March to commemorate St. Charles Parish’s bicentennial year. New Orleans natives Eleanor Bernard Carney and Ian Carney will perform with the company as guest artists this year.Auditions for dancers ages 7 to 10 are at the River Region Performing Arts Center at 15146 River Rd. in Norco. These auditions are to perform in “The Nutcracker” only.
Auditions for the junior company, dancers ages 10 to 13, are at Images Dance Studio, 105-A River Point Dr. in Destrehan. Membership in the junior company requires a commitment to perform in the both “The Nutcracker” and the spring concert.
Auditions for dancers 13 and up are also at Images Dance Studio. All dancers at this audition should bring pointe shoes. Dancers may select to audition for the Senior Company, a full season commitment, or for “The Nutcracker” only. Dancers should bring a resume including dance training and performance experience.
The audition fee for all dancers is $10. Anyone auditioning should arrive no later than a half our before the start of the audition to register and should be dressed to dance. Auditions will begin promptly at the time announced.
