AT ST. CHARLES PARISH ANIMAL SHELTER
Sushi, the dog pictured at right, is a Basenji mix. She is 4 months old and is already crate trained. She just recovered from a broken back leg and is doing great after she was found with her sister on the streets. Sushi is a very affectionate dog who has lots of energy and is a joy to have around.Picks of the Litter. These six domestic short hair kittens, three of which are pictured at right, came to the shelter last week and are 8 weeks old. There are three orange and white females, two tortoise shell females and one black male. They’re so soft and cuddly you can’t just take one.

The St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter’s hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is located under the Luling Bridge on the West Bank. The St. Charles Humane Society shows adoptable dogs at PetSmart, 6851 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, on Saturdays.
