Friends and members of Luling United Methodist Church recently partnered with Z-Deco Ceramic Pottery of Destrehan to host a Christmas ornament painting party to benefit Heifer International, an organization that works with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth.
Guests each created a keepsake ornament and the proceeds were used to purchase one share of a goat and a “hope basket” including a gift of rabbits and a starter flock of chickens, which provides eggs and protein for nourishment and helps boost income through sales of extra eggs and offspring.
