Those still trying to find presents for loved ones and holiday memories may not know that the German Coast Farmers’ Markets can provide both.
Each week the markets offer specialties such as special candles, all natural soaps, kettle popcorn, wines, fresh vegetables, free range eggs, shelled or whole pecans, honey, pralines, citrus, seafood, pepper jellies (make delicious salad dressings) specially prepared meats, handmade crafts and artwork. Also, special sauces and dips are available for those planning parties.
History and recipe books, including St. Charles Parish, Louisiana – A Pictorial History, are available that focus on St. Charles’ unique culture.
The markets also offer seedling cards and garden gloves for beginning gardners.
For plant lovers poinsettias, Christmas cactus, flowering perennial and annual bedding plants, bromeliads, citrus trees, ficus and an array of other house and garden plants are available every week.
In addition to getting a chance to shop close to home customers get an experience to remember as well. Live music is often provided as shoppers peruse the different vendors to find special gifts for family and friends.
