JROTC cadet receives award

Destrehan High School Junior ROTC Cadet Jonathan Richard received the coveted Commandant’s Award at the Keesler AFB JROTC Summer Leadership School from Brigadier General Bradley Spacey, the 81st Training Wing commander at Keesler AFB, Miss.

The Commandant’s Award is awarded to the best Distinguished Graduate in the school. Cadet Richard excelled in outdoor unit drill, dress, appearance, public speaking, academics, physical fitness and room inspection. He was also designated Distinguished Graduate from his flight unit.

The Keesler AFB JROTC Summer Leadership School is sponsored by Biloxi High School and serves all Air Force Junior ROTC units in the southern Gulf Region, with attendees coming from schools in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.
