J.B Martin presented with autism education award

J. B. Martin Middle School was presented with an award as a model practice school site in the Key Area of Environment for 2012-2013 at a Louisiana State University Health Sciences & Human Development Center and Louisiana Department of Education’s Louisiana Autism Spectrum and Related Disabilities (LASARD) Project meeting.

LASARD is a project to improve educational practices and outcomes for students with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities. They work to develop statewide capacity to provide high quality educational programs for these students. J. B. Martin in St. Charles Parish was a participating school.

Current team members for LASARD are Assistant Principal Charley Hall, District Liaison Celeste Chiasson, General Education Teacher Courtney Grabert, Special Education Teachers Charmaine Williams, Lacey Jones and Sandra McCullough and Para-Professional Lori Plaisance.
