Interactive concert experience set for Saturday at the Lafon Center

The weekend the Dr. Rodney R. Lafon Performing Arts Center will host Motones and Jerseys In Concert – an interactive, high-energy 60’s-inspired song and dance experience.

The show will take place April 9 at 7:30 p.m. The theatre is located at 275 Judge E. Dufresne Pkwy. in Luling.

With a set list of nearly 50 songs, Motones and Jerseys In Concert features the music of beloved artists like Marvin Gaye, The Drifters, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Temptations, The Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Herman’s Hermits and many more. Organizers say this isn’t your typical theatrical experience – at this show the audience chooses the winner at every performance via a real-time voting app.

“Audiences love the interactive nature,” Lafon Center Director Chris Aucoin-Melohn said. “The audience votes on their phones throughout the first act of the show for which group they are responding to the most.  The performers then try to get more votes by doing more vocal tricks and fancy dance moves. It’s great.”

Aucoin-Melohn said he hopes the community thinks of the Lafon Center as a welcoming, safe space during stressful times.

“Be it a night out with the family, an evening with friends, or a date night with a partner, we just want our community to know that we are here with world-class entertainment, and that every ticket we sell goes to providing arts opportunities to the students of St. Charles Parish Public Schools,” he said.
