HHS senior named S.T.A.R. student of the year

Payton Bryant has been named the 2013 – 2014 S.T.A.R. (Students Teaching and Reaching) Student Of the Year.

Payton is a senior at Hahnville High School and a team member in the S.T.A.R. program at the Satellite Center.

She has spent this year committed to the service learning projects in S.T.A.R. She has prepared lessons for a variety of students to engage them in early literacy activities, has presented at the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators conference with her team members and is currently participating in an intensive internship at Mimosa Park Elementary.

Payton will attend Southeastern Louisiana University.

“There is no doubt that Payton will be an effective, passionate teacher wherever she begins her career,” Angela Lange, the S.T.A.R. facilitator, said.
