Herald-Guide makeover contest winner

Fisherman gets star treatment at Vous Salon and Spa

The ladies at Vous Salon and Spa in Paradis treated Corey Granier like a king with a day of all-inclusive spa services scheduled just for him.

Corey’s wife, Holly, entered her hubby into our makeover contest desperate for a little help sprucing up his appearance.

“My sweetie is perfect, but there are some underlying issues that need attention,” Holly stressed in her letter.

“He’s been having the same military style shaved haircut since we met – which is fine – but are the hairs on your neck supposed to be longer than the ones on your head?” asked Holly.

From a pedicure to eyebrow waxing, nothing was too good for this commercial fisherman.

The day started out with a spa manicure and pedicure that hit all the right spots with essential oils and exfoliants – and Corey loved it!

“I could sit in this massage chair all day,” said Corey. “And my feet feel great.”

A one-hour Swedish massage was next followed by a deep cleansing European facial designed to flush out Corey’s pours and leave his skin feeling smooth.

A new haircut and eyebrow waxing finished off the day and Corey was feeling like a new man.

“This isn’t something that I would normally do for myself,” said Corey.

“But I am glad that Holly entered the contest and I could see coming back occasionally for a massage and pedicure.”

Corey and Holly have been married for four years, have two young sons and are expecting their third child.

Corey works as a commercial fisherman and is currently enrolled in the process technician program at River Parishes Technical College in Reserve.

THE ENTRY THAT WON IT ALL:
Dear Herald-Guide,

At least 100 words? No Problem! Where do I begin? I saw this contest and just had to enter my sweetie!

Before I start, let me just say, his appearance to me is perfect! However, there are definitely some underlying issues that need a little attention!

First of all, he’s been having the same military style shaved haircut since we met – which is fine – but are the hairs on your neck supposed to be longer than the ones on your head? I DON’T THINK SO!

He cuts his hair himself, and I guess sometimes he just forgets.

Next, those hands! If I get him to scratch my back, you would think I was a bear and backed up to a tree!!!

Now, I may be exaggerating just a little, but seriously, you can hear the sound of static from his hands rubbing my clothes!

Working outdoors takes it’s toll, so his hands are always dried and cracked up. They really need some therapy.

But the biggest thing – HIS TOES!

To the public, that’s a well kept secret! He does clip them every now and then, but probably not until they start eating holes in his shoes.

I do try to help sometimes, but we have a three-year-old, one that’s two, and one on the way, so needless to say, I’m just a little exhausted myself sometimes!

My husband could definitely use a makeover (if not for him, for me!!!)

My sweetie is a very hardworking man, a wonderful father, and truly a blessing to me.

I really appreciate all that he does, and I believe he deserves a little pampering! I’ll love him forever no matter what.

I just thought this would be perfect timing too, because in a few weeks baby feedings start in the middle of the night again!
