NEW SARPY – Motiva, partners in education with New Sarpy Kindergarten Center, sponsored a visit from the Zoomobile for the monthly science investigation.

The students learned the differences between reptiles, mammals and birds.

Students see what it’s like to work in a plant

NORCO – Eric Rodriguez, a control systems engineer gave Destrehan High School students a tour of the Motiva Norco Refinery.

Partners in education – Motiva and Destrehan High School participated in the job shadowing program.

Students were given the opportunity to shadow a Motiva employee during a typical work day.

$7.5G grant helps kids study birds & animals

LULING – The Luling Land Lab and the science and technology lab at Luling Elementary received a $2,500 grant from the Best Buy Teach Program and a $5,000 grant from the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program to help purchase digital video equipment.

The students will apply math, science, social studies and technology skills as they study bird and animal movement patterns and migration as well as weather patterns that affect the Gulf South.

Some students began constructing birdhouses that will allow our campus to continue to be recognized as a National Wildlife Federation Schoolyard Habitat.

Participants were: Jeremy Hill, Ernest Thompson and Donovan Isom help pour bags of concrete that will become the foundation of a bird house on the school’s campus.
