Club serves soda pop to 5K bridge runners

LULING – Raymond K. Smith Middle School Jr. Beta members helped work the Monsanto Coke Booth for 2007 United Way of St. Charles 5K Bridge Run. A few of the participants were Heather Bergeron and Sierra Stoney putting out cokes for the runners finishing the race.
200 birthday presents for St. Charles Parish

NEW SARPY – New Sarpy Elementary third grade students donated Louisiana grown and made food products to St. Charles Social Concerns Food Bank.
Third graders learn about the resources our state offers, in their studies about our state.
As part of St. Charles Parish’s Bicentennial Celebration, students accumulated 200 products as a birthday gift to their parish. Happy 200th Birthday St. Charles Parish!

NEW SARPY – Ms. O’Rourke’s first grade class at New Sarpy Elementary performed three different plays on April 3, 2007. The children performed for the school, during the day, and again for parents, relatives and friends at night. Lots of talented actors and actresses were seen by many!

Sacred Heart students and Passion of Christ

NORCO – The Montessori Class at Sacred Heart School performed The Passion of our Lord for an audience of Parents, Grandparents and students. The children put on a wonderful performance which was produced and directed by the class teachers: Mrs. Marlene Trammel and Mrs. Lindy Denham. Students were: Mason Carter, Kaleb Flannery, Nicholas Schulin and Hunter Brignac.
Jazz band performs at R.K. Smith Middle

LULING – R. K. Smith Middle School students were entertained by a jazz band performing for the students. The jazz band is a group of individual performers who are under the support of the New York Jazz Foundation.
The foundation’s mission is to put artists affected by Hurricane Katrina back to work. The group did a wonderful job of explaining the aspects of jazz and the history of the jazz funeral.
Hi-tech adgets make learning fun at R.J. Vial

PARADIS – Remynte Turner used a Palm Pilot in his 3rd grade English class to write and edit “Bunny Tales.”
After being awarded Best Buy Teach and Michael Jordan Fundamentals grants, R. J. Vial Elementary 3rd grade teachers are implementing the use of Palm Pilots across the curriculum.
The 3rd graders will be using the handhelds on their field trips to document their learning experiences and create projects, including a brochure and a webpage, as well as weekly for special projects.
The 3rd grade would also like to thank everyone who participated in the Easter basket raffle to help complete the purchase of the equipment necessary to use these palms as they were intended.
