LULING – On Friday, April 27, A.A. Songy held their second annual Family Fun Fest.
The students participated in a number of fun activities to celebrate the season and culminated the day with a picnic under the trees.
This exciting day of play concluded the school’s “Week of the Young Child.”
Students dress up like storybook characters

NEW SARPY – During National Library Week, April 16-20, students at New Sarpy Elementary and Kindergarten celebrated by dressing up as their favorite storybook character. The activity encouraged students to think about books and characters so that they could creatively demonstrate them.

Parent tells students how to handle MONEY

DESTREHAN – St. Charles Borromeo parent, Colleen Pinero, is visiting first grade classrooms to discuss Junior Achievement. As a CPA for Junior Achievement she was able to discuss volunteers, families, family jobs, needs and wants, and how to pay for needs and wants.
Mrs. Pinero distributed activity books and magnets for the students. Junior Achievement is involved in all schools in St. Charles Parish.

NEW SARPY – Students from Mr. Donnie Cross’ gifted and talented class in mathematics performed a geometry skit for fellow students at New Sarpy Elementary School. This skit used geometric puns such as a “polygon” as both a closed figure with straight lines and a “dead parrot.” In this photo, “teacher” Madison Schmitt, fields questions from “students” Sarah Gautier, Andy Gilmore, Cole Greishop, Catie Toal and Gregory Danielson.
Ruslan Bilyalov TAKES FIRST at physics fair

DESTREHAN – Ruslan Bilyalov, a 7th grader at Harry Hurst Middle School, recently captured first place in the Junior Physics Division at the State Science Fair held in Baton Rouge. Ruslan was also presented a ‘Discovery Young Scientists Award’ at the competition.
