Satellite Center kids create school kiosk

Submitted by L. Anderson

LULING – The Digital Media, WebQuil, and Advanced Television Broadcasting team members (students) at the Satellite Center recently completed and launched an experimental kiosk system for the Satellite Center.

This state of the art kiosk project was funded by a grant from Motiva Enterprises and will be used in the rotunda of the Satellite Center as a way to inform visitors about the Center.

With a budget of $5,310 to purchase equipment and software for the project and a few months to deliver the final product, team members conductedresearch and submitted proposals to an outside panel for approval.

The resulting projects were user-friendly touch screen kiosks that provide a one-stop look into the origin and current operation of the Satellite Center.

Video testimonials from the superintendent, school board membersand others explain a cutting edge vision that would develop over time into a state of the art facility where students could come and grow in ways that they have not been able to before. When you visit the Satellite Center please take time to use the system to learn more about the Center.

You can also visit the Satellite Center online at www.satellite.stcharles.k12.la.us.

Pictured are Keith Keller, representing Motiva Enterprise, touching the screen of the new Kiosk system to learn more about the Satellite Center while Albert Dupont, Advanced TV facilitator, and Ka-Yue Yeung, a team member, watches. Funding for the Kiosk project was provide through a grant from Motiva.
