Students got a first-hand look at Civil War-era weapons during the Destrehan Plantation Heritage Days, which were held last week.
The event, geared for ages pre-K through 4th grade, is an opportunity to learn about life of long ago by observing skills that were vital to the self sufficiency of our ancestors.
The day included demonstrations of various skills from Louisiana’s past and present, vintage music and a Civil War encampment.
