A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Friday (Aug. 2) to announce the new owners of Frank’s Supermarket in Des Allemands.

“I’m so excited I am able to keep the family name – Frank’s,” said Tara Guidry, who worked for Frank’s for 25 years before she became an owner. “I want to keep the family tradition going with the Frank’s name.”

Friday’s celebration will also include a customer appreciation event that will feature free jambalaya, hot dogs and hamburgers from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Entertainment will include a jumper for children, a DJ and performance by Kerry Thibodaux and his band from 4 to 7 p.m.

It also will kick off a week-long customer appreciate week sale running through Aug. 7.

Frank’s workers display food samples they’re making for events like wedding receptions.

Tara is one of four store owners including her husband, Jacob Guidry, and Jay and Tammy Pitre. Tara will continue as the owner-manager.

Frank’s Supermarket in Des Allemands has been in business 40 years.

“We will focus on family, friends and community,” Tara said. “We’re excited that we’ve grown the deli business, bakery and boat orders, and that we’re known for our fresh store-made sausage and our ‘Pick 5’ meat program.”
