BOUTTE – Hahnville High School students in Dennis Robbins’ Fire Safety Class listened as Jim Polk and Kenny Wenning Jr. from the St. Charles Parish Office of Homeland Security spoke with them about the Parish Rapid Assessment Team (PRAT).
The students were shown equipment that is used in a hazardous situation. Some of the equipment shown was Class A, B and C chemical suits, and air monitoring equipment for specific chemicals.
Wenning helped one of the students model a Class A chemical suit while wearing an air pack to demonstrate what protective clothing is required to work a hazardous materials incident.
