The Festival of Charities will hold their annual pageants and “Butterfly Extravaganza” on Sunday, April 26 at the American Legion Hall in St. Rose. The theme for this year’s festivities is “Dreams Do Come True.” Divisions will be as follows: Baby and Youth Divisions Boys 0-12 months – 10 a.m., 13-24 months – 10:15 a.m. Girls 0-7 months 10:30 a.m., 8-14 months 10:45 a.m., 15-23 months 11 a.m., 2-3 years 11:15 a.m., 4-5 years 11:30 a.m., 6-7 years 11:45 a.m., 8-9 years, noon.
Doors will open at 9 a.m. and registration will be accepted at the door 30 minutes prior to each division. Dress is “Sunday Best,” “Natural Hair,” and very little make-up, no glitz!
Entry fee is $40 in advance, $45 the day of the pageant. All Kings and Queens will receive a crown and banner. Each division will be awarded side awards of Photogenic, Fashion, Prettiest Eyes, Hair, and Smile. People’s Choice Winners will receive a $50 savings bond.
The Junior, Teen, and Miss Pageant will begin at 5 p.m. Divisions are as follows: Junior: 10-12 years of age, must be a resident of Louisiana, never married or conceived a child, entry fee $60; Teen: 13-16 years of age, must be a resident of Louisiana, never married or conceived a child, entry fee $60; Miss: 17-23 years of age, must be a resident of Louisiana, never married or conceived a child, entry fee $75. All Senior Division titles are contracted.
Interviews will begin at 2 p.m. Contestants are asked to please arrive at 1:30 p.m. Teen and Miss interviews will be five minutes, round-robin style and Juniors will have a panel conversation.
Dress for interview is nice jeans and a stylish top. Competition includes Interview, Opening Number, Evening Gown, and On Stage Question.
Queens receive monogrammed banner, banner pin, crystal awards, use of official crown, and much more.
