Kim and Mary Lou Daves of Coila, Miss. announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Jessica Daves, to Gage Cortez.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Terrence and Katina Cortez of Des Allemands.
He is the grandson of Clyde and Shirley Richardel of Union Church and Rodney Cortez of Des Allemands and Gene and Reba Soileau of Houma.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Carl and Maggie McDaniel of Benton, Miss. and the late Reginald Daves and the later Bertie Herbert.
Daves is a 2009 graduate of Mississippi College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree, and a 2013 graduate of the University of New Orleans, where she received a Master of Arts degree in teaching.
Daves is a special education teacher at Harry Hurst Middle School in Destrehan.
Cortez is a 2008 graduate of Hahnville High School. He is employed as a carpenter with Civil Construction Contractors. The couple will exchange vows at 7 p.m. on June 7 at Cedar Grove Tchoupitoulas Plantation in Westwego.
Kenneth “Butch” Clay will officiate.
A reception will follow at the plantation.
The couple will reside in Des Allemands.
