Our competition is open to photographers in St. Charles Parish and all surrounding parishes – and to make sure everyone can join in on the fun, both digital and print formats are approved. You don’t need fancy gear to compete. Just an eye for great subject matter or, what the hey … you can do what the rest of us do and just snap a lot of pictures and see if you get lucky.
By participating in this contest, you agree to all the legalese found in our Contest Rules (below). Entering is easy.
Submit your scanned or digital photographs to Camera Shootout 2007 to: heatherb@heraldguide.com or mail your prints to Camera Shootout, P.O. Box 1199, Boutte, LA 70039.
Every week, Herald-Guide editors will select five photos from all submissions received in the previous seven days.
These five photos will be published in the Herald-Guide along with your name and put to a reader vote.
After seven days, the photograph with the most votes will be declared our weekly winner.
Every four weeks for one year, our four most recent weekly winners will be re-posted for a final reader vote, again, for one week of polling.
The photograph receiving the most votes will be declared our monthly winner. Our 12 monthly winners automatically will be eligible for the Grand Prize vote – and $500 cash award – when the year’s 12 best photographs are posted for four weeks in our final reader vote.
Photos will be selected from the pool entirely at the discretion of Herald-Guide editors.
