The Count of Monte Cristo is an epic tale of love and revenge by the world renowned author Alexandre Dumas. The background for this grand story is the landscape of Napoleonic era France.
The Count of Monte Cristo is a man, formerly known as Edmond Dantes, who has been betrayed and left to die in prison. However, he never intended to go along with this plan. After his miraculous escape from a fortress of a prison, Edmond sought revenge on the people who left him to rot in the dungeon. The tale that follows is a thrilling roller coaster of love and vengeance as The Count tries to win back his fiancé and take down the people who have wronged him.
I enjoyed The Count of Monte Cristo from the very first page to the very last. I think that anyone looking for an easy, well-paced read should look into this book. It is quite easy to see why this and Dumas’ other works have stood the test of time.
