“The Other Boleyn Girl” by Philippa Gregory is a historical fiction book that takes place in 16th century England during the reign of King Henry VIII.
The Boleyns’ only interest is power. They know that the best way to climb the ranks is by giving the king what Queen Catherine could not: a son. Mary and Anne Boleyn are forced into becoming mistresses to their king. Betrayal, heartbreak and jealousy heighten their sibling rivalry. How far will their family’s wants take them?
The novel was intriguing. I would highly recommend it to mature readers because of sexual content. It is also a good book for those interested in history or scandal.
Taylor Petit is a graduating senior in the academically gifted program at Hahnville High. She is a member of the dance team, National Honor Society, Student Council and Science Olympiad. She will be attending Southeastern Louisiana University in the fall to study nursing.
