Assistance for Single Parents receives Entergy Grant

Assistance For Single Parents (AFSP), a local non-profit organization, recently received a $10,000 grant from Entergy’s Waterford 3 to aid in their effort to assist and empower working single parent families in St. Charles Parish.

“Entergy Waterford 3 is excited to support Assistance for Single Parents as they grow in the community. This organization has a great purpose and we are proud to be able to assist in any way possible,” said Waterford 3 Site Vice President Mike Chisum.

AFSP’s primary focus is the overall health and well-being of children; however, their programs are geared toward assisting and empowering working single parents with support, services and fellowship.

Debra Rieder, Executive Director of Assistance For Single Parents, said, “Being the recipient of this grant will allow AFSP to continue in efforts to assist and empower single parents by providing guidance with finances, single parent support meetings, better employment opportunities, budgeting and legal workshops, emotional healing and stability, peer support networking, parenting or co-parenting concerns, and wisdom from others who truly understand the daily struggles and challenges faced as a single parent.”

Any working, single parent who would like more information or would like to register with their organization, visit www.AssistanceForSingleParents.org and click on the Register tab.
