4 bands rock Little Red Church Fest this weekend in Destrehan

Food, bands and carnival games will all be featured at this weekend’s Little Red Church Festival.

“It serves as a class reunion so many people say, “See you next year,’” said Ronald Rodrigue, administrative assistant at St. Charles Borromeo School. “The weather should not curtail the event.”

Expected to draw up to 5,000 people, the festival will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The festival will be held at 13396 River Road in Destrehan, behind St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

The menu will include local favorites, including jambalaya, red beans, shrimp stew, crawfish pies, meat pies and pulled-pork sandwiches, as well as chicken nuggets, funnel cakes, hamburgers, onion mums, snowballs and pizza.

Amusement park rides and games also will be there.Four bands will perform throughout the weekend.

Mojeaux will play from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday to be followed by Category 6, which will take the stage from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Parish Avenue and the Topcats will play on Sunday.

Visitors also get a chance to win a $10,000 raffle and play video games on Saturday in unique video trailers.Admission to the festival is free.
