10-man ‘metal’ band unique art

With a little creativity and scrap metal laying around, Frenchy Berard of Des Allemands designed his version of the Olympia Brass Band using nails, tin, washers, nuts, soft drink cans, welding rods and other metal to create the one-of-a-kind replica.

The Olympia Brass band is a New Orleans jazz brass band. The first of its kind was active from the late 19th century to around World War I. In 1958, saxophonist Harold Dejean, leader of the 2nd unit of the Eureka Brass Band, split off to form the current Olympia, reviving the historic name.
