Renovation permit filed for Destrehan Popeyes location after fire

A shopping center on Longview Drive in Destrehan houses Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Trey Wah and other businesses. Murray Architects opened a renovation permit for the location after a fire last September forced the businesses there to temporarily shut down.

Murray Architects filed a renovation permit for three damaged business suites on Longview Drive after a fire last year forced Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Trey Wah and other businesses located in the area to temporarily shut down.

The renovation permit does not provide information about which businesses will return to the suites once an occupancy permit is approved, according to Francesca Blanchard, a spokesperson for the parish.

Last September, a fire broke out at the Popeyes at 13510 Longview Drive in Destrehan. The fire spread to surrounding businesses, and firefighters for the Eastern St. Charles Fire Department responded.

Months before the fire at Popeyes, another fire broke out a shopping center on US Highway 90. Pizza Hut, Tiger Rock Martial Arts, Head Hunters Salon and Posh Salon & Spa were forced to temporarily shut down. Those businesses celebrated their reopening event on April 19.
