Parish to host Mardi Gras dance for seniors Feb. 12

St. Charles Parish residents enjoy the 2025 Senior Mardi Gras dance. This year’s event will be held on Feb. 12.

The Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Council on Aging, will host the annual Krewe of G-Old Timers Senior Mardi Gras dance Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. in the gymnasium.

St. Charles Parish residents who are 55 and older are invited to attend the free event. Attendees are encouraged to dress in festive Mardi Gras attire and enjoy a performance by Ryan Foret & Foret Tradition and a meal prepared by the parks and recreation team

Those who plan to attend should RSVP by Monday, Feb. 9 by calling 985-783-5090. Those in need of transportation should call 985-783-6683.

Grayson Touchard, a spokesperson for the Parks and Recreation Department, said that while people can show up at the door if they did not register for the event, the cap for the event is 500 people.

“We strongly encourage [residents] to call ahead to register so we can make sure we have the correct amount of food available,” she said.

At the door, residents will need to show their ID to confirm they are a resident of this parish.

Touchard said every year the parish looks forward to bringing seniors together for one of the biggest social events of the year.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for them to connect, socialize, and enjoy an experience they may not get in their everyday routine,” she said.

Parks and Recreation, alongside Council on Aging, has hosted this event for the past 14 years.
