Graffiti artist gets PTI after alleged vandalism of several parish buildings

Can have charges dismissed if he fulfills terms of program

A 23-year-old Luling man arrested in early 2017 for allegedly spraying graffiti on buildings and other structures at several St. Charles Parish locations was placed on pre-trial intervention (PTI).

Justin Mitchell, of 708 Milling Ave. in Luling, faced 10 counts of criminal damage to property valued over $500. He can potentially have the charges dismissed if he fully completes the terms of the PTI program.

According to court documents, Mitchell gave a recorded statement admitting he sprayed graffiti in several places throughout the Luling and Killona areas in January of 2017.

His apparent work drew attention when several photographs which appeared to have been of graffiti located in St. Charles Parish were found on a post on the phone application “Offer UP”.  The post on Offer Up was advertising services performed by the user, stating that the user would spray paint any location requested by the consumer, according to St. Charles Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. James Grimaldi.

Detectives obtained a warrant for information associated with the Offer Up account, subsequently resulting in the identification of Mitchell.
